FAST FIVE for week of July 8, 2012

Campus Safety: OCAD University has conducted an enterprise pilot of the Guardly application that is designed to turn a smartphone into a personal safety alarm. When the application's panic button is pressed an emergency alert is sent to a list of contacts, which can include 911. The server component of the application gives security dispatchers access to situational information about incoming callers. Smartphone Alerts  OCAD Panic Button

iPad Kiosks at Brock: Brock University has implemented an iPad kiosk to help visitors navigate around their Hamilton campus. The system is linked to the room booking system, campus map, and campus directory. The ease of use of an iPad combined with live access to event, scheduling, and directory information make the system particularly useful to new or infrequent campus visitors. Brock Kiosks
